Palliative-Care---Looking-After-Your-Loved-One
Palliative Care

Our support workers provide the highest quality palliative and end of life care possible, promoting values of dignity and respect.  The support and training each support worker receives, enables them to support you and your family in a confident and compassionate way by developing trusting and caring relationships.

We all understand how distressing it can be to see a loved one being affected by a terminal illness.  That is where we can help, providing specialist day-to-day support so that you and your loved one can make the most of your time together.

Midian Cares’ Palliative Care at home service enables you to stay in the home that you feel comfortable in, surrounded by precious memories, priceless possessions, and the people that are dearest to you.  With one-to-one support from one of our specialised compassionate support workers, who is experienced in palliative care, you can have the support that you need, when you need it.

Palliative Care and Ongoing Support

One of the main benefits of Midian Cares’ Palliative Care service is that you are able to receive the care that you need in the comfort of your own home from somebody that you know and trust.  Knowing the person that your loved one is comfortable with and trusts also give you peace of mind.

Having support in your own home, not care in the hospital or in a respite care home, makes it easier for everybody.  It is easier for your family to visit you in a place that they are used to visiting, also if given the choice it may be more convenient for you to remain in your home as opposed to moving if this option is practicable.  Round-the-clock care allows you or your loved one to adjust the care package to meet changing needs, and with one to one care, we can respond straight away.

Family members can carry on with their lives knowing that their loved one’s condition is being monitored and that they will be notified of any developments.

You can also be assured that our support workers are assessed to the extremely high standards of the care quality commission (CQC) and care will be delivered to an exemplary standard.

Your support worker is able to fully support you with your bathing or toileting requirements.  They can assist you in getting in and out of the bath or shower safely, as well as washing and drying your hair and body, if required.

Your support worker can help you to get to and from the toilet and, where required, will monitor your personal hygiene in order to ensure your health and comfort.

Many people of all ages find it difficult to manage their medication.  Our support workers can offer you assistance to ensure you are taking the right medicine at the right time.  We can prompt, remind, or give full support by administering medication.

We understand that being able to do everything around the household may become difficult for some of our clients therefore when we assess your needs we will discuss the idea of light household duties being completed by carers when it may be helpful to clients.

Our support workers ensure that you enjoy nutritious and delicious choices at every meal, from the option of a cooked breakfast each morning to a cooked main meal every evening.

If you have a pet, Midian Care can help by walking or feeding your dog or looking after your cat giving it the attention it deserves.

Your support worker can run errands for you such as collecting prescriptions from the pharmacy or collecting shopping for you.

Arranging support for a loved one

Sometimes dementia care can be quite an uncomfortable and demanding task for a close family member to carry out for a loved one, as it is a lot of responsibility, with some feeling awkward about a change in the relationship.

In these instances, it can be much easier to have a trained professional who is accustomed to supporting with dementia care to come to your loved one’s house and step in.  Choosing a dementia carer that your loved one is comfortable with is vital whether they are male, female, young or old- means that carer becomes a regular friendly face for your loved one to rely on whilst offering gentle encouragement and a little bit of extra support.
